I have bought some old wooden ironing boards at the thrift shop to use as buffet tables for parties in the yard. I add a table cloth and line the boards along the deck or along the edge of the flower bed. They look really nice. One is for food, and one for plates cups (etc.). I am using one now as a plant stand for some of the house plants I brought in from the yard. Think of it as a long table and there are a ton of uses for it. The boards don't take up a lot of space, they are easy to store as well.

I use two of them (metal) for camping tables. I put them in an L shape, clamp them together (for stability and use a couple of metal tent pegs bent over the legs) and have a kitchen station. It is great because you don't have to bend over to cook or do dishes. You can set it up at a height that is comfortable for you. I have had many compliments when camping. And it's compact and easy to take.
I put them in the back room for the cats under windows, and they love laying back there. You can put them end to end and they can climb on them and take naps.
