I never throw away any of these small boxes. They include Altoid and other brands of mints. Russell Stover sometimes have their Whitman samplers in tin boxes.
I use them to store jewelry. I keep silver rings in a silver box and gold rings in a gold box.
I also use them for my sewing supplies. I use one tin for each of the following: for sewing needles, sewing machine needles, safety pins, straight pins, and one for bobbins.
In my fishing tackle box, I use one for fish hooks, one for sinkers, and one for leads.
I keep one for change and cash, because it fits right in my pocket and eliminates the need to carry my wallet.
I go to the store for 3 different ladies and I put their money each in a different color of tin. Of course I mark each one with its contents. I usually paint them each a different color.
I give jewelry gifts in tins painted and decorated.
I use them in my framing tool kit.
Other uses include: screw eyes, small nails or tacks, framing wire, and one for framing points.
They really help keep me organized.
