I received a Christmas cactus last year and worked on it all year and have been patiently waiting for its 1st bloom. We had an unexpected freeze and I didn't think to bring it inside. It's wilted and I have no idea how to save this beautiful plant so that it's ready to bloom at Christmas.

You can try following the advice at www.gardeningknowhow.com/
From my experience, the chance of saving your cactus depends largely on how badly it was damaged by the cold. All it takes it one surprise cold snap to totally destroy a Christmas cactus. I have had some success in salvaging a few healthy leaves that didn't get hurt by cold temperatures by rooting them in dirt in a warm sunny indoor location. www.gardeningknowhow.com/
VeronicaHB gave good links and info. These are a very fussy plant. I have seen them freeze INDOORS when being too close to a window, so being outdoors can be fatal.
Hopefully you can salvage all or some of it and root the ones that are still good in fresh clean soil and baby them until they take.
If you can find it, do the repotting in a mix of course sand (1 small handful) and soil specially for formatting cacti (2 small handfuls) and then the bottom with rocks for drainage. This gives you the best shot at success!
Only prune if the tissue starts to turn black. Instructions are here www.gardeningknowhow.com/
You may have to trim the cactus and bring it inside to save it. I am not sure it will actually bloom this year after the freeze.
Your Christmas cactus really needs to be indoors while it is cold, and needs to be in a sunny area with warmth !
