I am a senior citizen who has severe arthritis, I find it hard to cook meals. I am looking for recipes using a Rice cooker. Any help to prepare meals using small appliances with a shut off alarm would be appreciated.
Thank you for any help, Brigid from Visalia, CA
Hi Brigid,
Possibly http://www.drmirkin.com/nutrition/N236.html (Cooking whole grains in an electric countertop steamer) would assist you.

I do not have recipes for rice cookers, though I know you can use them to warm soups.....
Another great appliance for one-two people is the GE toaster oven with rotisserie. It can toast up to six slices, and works like an oven. THe nice thing is that it shuts off the oven when the timer goes off, or you can set it to stay on until you shut it off. It is around 50 dollars at wal-mart. I like the little oven for cooking lunches for my sons, when I do not need to bake much. It can fit a 6 cup muffin tin (Texas size) or personal pie pan. And a nice safety device when you can't get to shut off the oven right away!

I have some compiled at Recipezaar: http://www.recipezaar.com/mycookbook/book/80457/. As I find more I'll be adding them to this recipe book. I love how easy a rice cooker is to use!

Try if you like to join the Yahoo Groups and search for "rice cooker" - there is a group for that and it has many recipes.
