Photo Description Don't even look at the grass. I recently sowed the lawn with 'Black Jack' Bermuda. It's struggling along. Hopefully. it will look like a putting green in a couple of months. So, is there a real point of interest in this 'work in progress'? Yes. I didn't plant those scraggly petunias in the near corner. They are volunteers. Could they be hiding something? You betcha! Some of you have been keeping up with my little 'orphaned garden friend' saga. Some have even asked for more pictures. Well, here's the latest. Robbie The Rabbit has made himself a little home neath the petunias. He has a few small rabbit friends to come around, occasionally. I thought it only befitting that I put up a sign to let them all know just where he lives. Next....a mailbox? You never know. Robbie's classy. He probably subscribes to the Br'er Rabbit weekly digest. Thanks, Y'all! Insert petunia picture here.
My front lawn is a mess. Over the winter, I hauled in soil to level it, also to raise it, so as to better tie it in with my adjoining vacant field. Doing so provided me with a much wanted bank. Bermuda grass is filling in the bank, nicely. I have sprigged in 'Little Herman' ivy along the bank. Eventually. it will crowd out the Bermuda and be a solid blanket of variegated ivy. Yes!

Sad Update:
Robbie seems to have vacated his domain. I know not of his whereabouts. Maybe he has matured enough to travel at large and get into his own not so 'uncompromising situations'. I would rather think that than wonder if he fell victim to the dastardly man who killed his mother.
His quaint little abode is not sitting empty, though. There has been a realty transfer, of sorts. A young lady rabbit whom I have christened 'Roberta', has found the 'digs' (literally), to her liking. She has taken up residence in Robbie's old home place neath the Petunias.
Robbie really liked me, but this young lady is far more trusting. She is almost to the point of eating from my hand. I do so hope she soon will allow me to touch her and maybe even stroke her beautiful fur. That's her decision to make though, not mine.
So ends the 'Robbie The Rabbit' series. Thanks to all who showed interest.
Doug
I agree, I'd rather think he had gone off hunting adventure too! Sorry though, as I know you miss your friend...
If Roberta feels safe enough, maybe she will stay around your yard permanently?
Best wishes for you and your new pal,
Kate
