Roo is my 7 year old Siamese-Abyssinian cross. Roo came to us as a foster cat whilst awaiting his new home in the south of England. His new family, happy 'staff' of three other cats, rescued him from a semi-feral life near their holiday caravan park (he really chose them, lol:), but couldn't take him just then as they were in the middle of selling their Essex home to relocate permanently to Devon.
He was with us for nine months and we came to truly love this wonderful, personality filled cat. But the day came two weeks ago to take him home, and we sadly loaded his gear for the trip to his new home.
Whilst happy to see the people who'd rescued him, he was very unhappy to meet the other three cats! We spent four days trying to integrate Roo into his rescuer's home to no avail, and the decision was taken that he would be happier as the only cat.
The first night the other three took it in turns to come to the guest room door and tell him off, making it clear that if he tried coming back out of the guest room they would happily show him whose home this really was! The next morning when we woke up we found Roo in his cat carrier-he looked up at us as if to say "I'm packed, I'm ready, let's go home!"
When the three cats were sitting on the screen terrace, Roo would slink to the screen and offer to fight them all, clearly he was not going to be able to make friends. We brought him back to Scotland and he is happily enjoying being the only cat next to the wood stove. He likes to run through the house at top speed and spring from furniture piece to furniture piece, ending atop the large buffet cabinet a full eight feet from the floor! We could tell he loves his rescuers still after nine months apart and it was heartbreaking to have to bring him back with us. However, he is King Kat here, and we are thrilled to have him in our home.

I love stories like this with a happy ending. It goes to show everyone ended up where they belonged. I think you were chosen, you just didn't know it yet.
