Roof Repair Financial Help?

Roof Repair Financial Help - damaged shinglesI live in Terre Haute Indiana. The weatherization program promised me a year ago that they would replace my roof on my house. Now they are telling me they won't help after this man promised me they could fix it. Who can I call to file a complaint or what can I do to get help? I now have mold in my spare bedroom.

I would notify a local news station and have them do a human interest story on you. You will get results fast

Hello. So sorry to hear you are having issues. Is this your weatherization program?

859 W Jackson Street, Suite A

If you have called them back and told them of your troubles and they haven't helped, I would work my way up the "food chain".

So by that I mean, contact your mayor (Bennett) at (812) 244-2303

If that doesn't help, you can try your town attorney general, (800) 382-5516

If that doesn't help, contact your state representative, Tonya Pfaff at 1-800-382-9842

If that doesn't work, go to your FEDERAL congress person:
Indiana Representative Larry Buschon (202) 225-4636, (812)232-0523

If you are polite, clear with your dates and what you were told and by whom, and ask for help, I would hope someone would help. These programs are for their constitutes...I would hope at one of these levels you will get action.

Clearly document everyone you speak to and what they tell you (name, date, time, and what they say). If at the end you STILL get no help, if you have a reporter at a newspaper you trust, you could take the story to them and perhaps they can help. Many years ago, when I was a reporter, we loved these kind of stories and would run with them.

Sending prayers and blessings that you can get it resolved at the first call!! Post back how it goes!

I am very sorry to hear that you have tried all of these venues and nothing and no one has helped.

Perhaps you could try your state senator and ask for help to find a legal aide lawyer from another community, who would NOT have ties to the realtor or anyone in your community.

Kind of like how the legal system handles cases where there is so much publicity about a happening in one town, that they go to another town for the trial. It helps the person get a fair and impartial trial--and it sounds like you need fair and impartial.

So maybe someone outside of your area (a lawyer) would be willing to help. Just a thought. If that doesn't work, I feel bad as these are all of the courses of action I know and have had success with in my life.

dodgefan88,

When I sold homes in CA, which I'm not familiar with the laws in Indiana, but the (realtor) was responsible for YOUR transaction.

You mentioned the name of your realtor, have you tried contacting
(him and or his broker)?

I know in CA, problems or issues like that with a home cannot be swept under the rug.

Now in all fairness, a realtor cannot know everything that may be hidden in the sale of someone else's house, but I would start there since it's only been a year since you've purchased the home. Was there a "Home Warranty" with the sale of the home? And usually before the close of escrow, a roof inspection is done too.

Look your purchase contract over well and go from there, (call your realtor's office) and see what they have to say.

dodgefan88,
I'm so sorry, I just now re'read your post, and it wasn't you'd just purchased your home a year ago, it's a weatherization program that had promised you a roof.

I'd call every city and county official in your area, and ask them what options you may have, especially regarding that weatherization program.
