The experts advise us to select a piece of half hard stem about six inches long. While this is good advice, it isn't written in stone. If you can't get that desirable six inch piece, take whatever you can get, even if it's a one and a half inch 'nubbin'. If it is healthy and given proper treatment, it will root.
I lifted three very small pieces of Kordes Perfecta. All had formed root nodes. One showed a bit of new growth. Within three weeks, each piece will have enough roots to allow it to be individually potted.
I did not select these pieces for rooting. I selected a larger piece. Shown are the 'side pieces' I took away from the larger piece. It costs nothing to insert these tiny pieces in a rooting medium.
The urgency to reproduce it's own kind is so great in every living thing, one would almost have to mistreat a tiny rose twig to prevent it from rooting.
