How and when did you get your pet?
That is kind of a long story. On April 16, 2016 I was walking my 10 y/o Chihuahua and a car came speeding down the street and hit him. Obviously, I was devastated. I knew I would want another baby, but thought I would wait awhile.

I was in a quilt guild and we made dog/cat beds with our scraps and gave them to the local humane shelter. About 3 weeks after I lost my Chichi I took some beds up to the shelter and I saw this pathetic skinny (adorable) dog. I decided to go home and think it about it.

I went back to the shelter and she was gone! 3 weeks later I was bringing more beds and she was back! Apparently an older lady had adopted another dog a few months before and they were too much for her so she brought them both back.

When I took her home she barely weighed 6 pounds (she's 13 lbs now) and had obviously recently had puppies. She didn't know how to do anything like walk on a leash or go potty outside and she was wild. Right from the start she was very sweet and just wanted me to hold her and talk to her.

She developed severe separation anxiety. I couldn't be out of her sight. The 1st time I left her she cried (she has a bark that could wake the dead!) and clawed my door frame to bits.

I was living in an apartment and my upstairs neighbor got very angry and wouldn't tolerate it. I had to find someone to watch her when I had to leave without her. I went through 5 or 6 neighbors before I found a friend who had 2 Chichi mixes and fell in love with Rosie as well.

Fast forward to now, 2 1/2 yrs later and she is the smartest dog ever. She walks on a leash, goes potty outside, has learned to "shake", and only play with her own toys. She loves everybody including other dogs and cats. She's best buds with my Siamese cat. She either sleeps with him or under the covers in my bed. She even lets me know when she wants me to go to bed!

What does your pet like to do for fun?
She loves going shopping! I put her blanket in the cart and she either sits there or stands at the front of the cart. She loves the attention she gets from other shoppers. She knows when we're in the food or toy aisle and gets so excited-she'll even pick out her own toys!

She loves to play fetch with an old sock and routinely 'kills' the squeakers. I've actually bought bags of extra squeakers for her.

This past summer she made her 1st trip to the beach and she loves it. She chases the water at the edge of the shore, but is not about to go in. Digging and rolling in the sand is the best!

Do you have anything else to share about your pet?
I'm sure it's obvious how much I've fallen in love with this little girl. She is the best example of why people should consider adopting shelter dogs!
