Round Steak with Mushroom Gravy

This is delicious, easy to prepare, inexpensive, and great if you have guests that will be traveling from out of town and you're not sure when they will arrive.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. round steak (cut into 4 portions)
  • 1/4 cup flour (for dredging meat)
  • 1 large can mushroom soup
  • 1 large can mushrooms
  • dash of pepper and salt
  • pre-cooked rice or mashed potatoes

Directions:

Salt and pepper steak lightly, then dredge in flour and brown on both sides in a very small amount of fat. Blot pan of any remaining grease.

Open mushrooms and pour into pan, as well as juice, then add mushroom soup. Simmer on very low heat, stirring occasionally, for 2-4 hours.

Serve with cooked rice or mashed potatoes.

Cooking Time: 2-4 Hours

I make a similar dish but I use jarred beef gravy and cut up my own onions and mushrooms. Then I make it either in the oven or in the crockpot and serve with mashed potatoes and good crusty bread.
