Alcohol rubbed on carpet using white paper towels (no colors) has removed rust stains, coffee stains, and pet stains containing multi-colors from food. My husband dropped a glass of purple grape juice on a light gray carpet. I immediately blotted it up with white paper towels to remove liquid. I applied pressure to get up the rest, then I used alcohol and white paper towels. It completely disappeared!

Since your husband dropped the juice on the carpet, why didn't he clean it up?
Good point.
Never tried using rubbing alcohol on carpet stains....I have a 17 year old dog....had a urine stain and vomit stain on my light grey carpet..tried using an expensive "miracle" cleaner that I had bought from a home shopping network....once it dried, still had a dark stain.Used 70% rubbing alcohol (what I had on hand) & a toothbrush..WOW...I was shocked how good it worked....it is still drying, but it looks 100% better! I will stock up on the alcohol
