My ex-husband was awarded SSDI benefits in 2011. Since then, our 2 children, 7 year old twins, started to receive a monthly SSDI dependent payment. (I hope I am using the SSDI term correctly)
My ex-husband is under the assumption that if I tell child support enforcement to stop collecting child support that his own SSDI monthly check will increase because that SS dollar amount won't be going to the two children anymore. Is that correct?

Your local Social Security office will answer your questions.
Pay a visit to your Social Security office and just ask questions. Be sure to have all SS numbers and maybe a copy of the letter authorizing your children benefits. That letter should have all of the necessary information.
You should have stated that you were receiving support payments when you applied for benefits. Are your support payments paid through a court order? You may have to inform the court and SS about all payments you receive for support of these children; also any other service agencies where you receive "entitlements" should know how much support you receive. All of this is not only the law but common sense.
All of these services are legal services and sometimes people/person are held responsible for any omissions that pertain to the payments they receive. Legal can sometimes mean "fraud" and repayment or jail time can result.
Better to be sure you are in compliance with all services than to be found out later and have to maybe pay a penalty or worse. Children at that young age means many years of benefits so better to be sure everything is like it should be. Ignorance of a law does not mean very much in cases like this.
