My sister and her family were stationed in Germany in the 1990s. She has shared a few German dishes with me. This is one of my favorite.

Cook Time: 1 1/2 hours
Total Time: 2 hours

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 lb chuck steak or stew beef, cut into cubes
- 1 envelope brown gravy mix
- 1 Tbsp minced onion
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp wine vinegar
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 pkg. wide noodles, cooked
Steps:
- Cut meat into cubes and brown in oil. When browned, remove meat and set aside.
- Add gravy mix and 2 cups of water and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Stir in next six ingredients. Add salt and pepper to season. Add meat. Put mixture in a casserole dish. Cover. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1/2 hours. Remove bay leaf. Serve over hot, buttered noodles. Serves 5 to 6.
