I overheard my husband telling his sister about something I have been doing for a long time. I figured if it impressed him, I should share it. When I open a new can of coffee, I take the plastic top from the old can and put it on the bottom of the new can. The plastic will help to protect your countertops.

You can do this with lids under cans of shaving creme that you keep in the shower to keep them from rusting the tub.
I do the same thing with other products. I also put a lid under the Barkeepers Friend cleanser. I keep it under the sink. A can of it got damp, bottom came loose, made a mess. The lid under it keeps this from happening.
