I have four kids and am a single mother. For all of us that work hard and have to hurry to make it out the door every morning, we always need a little pick me-up during the day. For me, that's getting a coffee and, although that Starbucks coffee gives me the energy to finish the work day, it does add up. I have learned that by making my coffee myself before I leave, I have saved over a hundred dollars each month!
A big heavy duty thermos works a lot better.

Since my husband doesn't drink coffee and I only drink one cup a day, I make cold-brewed coffee using a Toddy that I've had for over 40 years. I get the French Market coffee with chicory.
After putting the whole can of coffee in the Toddy canister (large filter pad with plug, in recess at bottom) plus 2 cans of water on top, I let it set for 18-24 hours. Then I pull the rubber plug and let it drain in a large pitcher. (I broke the carafe years ago.)
I fill a Mason jar with the coffee syrup, and then freeze 2 or 3 plastic containers with the rest. When I want a cup, I use 2 TBS. of the syrup to a cup of hot water.
To be frugal, I do a second brew of the coffee grounds with one can of water. When I use this, I need 3 TBS. I freeze all of this until I'm out of the first brew.
I love cold-brewed coffee. There's no bitterness in it, and you can make it as strong as you like. While I prefer 2 TBS., someone else might want 3 or 4, or even 1. There's no reason this couldn't be kept in a thermos.
(Toddys are usually available at kitchen stores, and I bought one about 5 years ago as a wedding gift through Amazon. Every few years, I'll need to buy new filters and plugs.)
