We love books but our book collection required bookshelves which required wall space and that means more square footage, which meant a larger house. That larger house required larger payments for mortgage and taxes.
Years ago, I asked for a Kindle for my birthday and it has been a money saver. I can now get books from Book Bub or Pixel of Ink free or at a nominal cost. We got rid of our books to move to a smaller home with less square footage and so, have no more books to dust. The cost of home and taxes is smaller and less visually cluttered looking without the books.
The same thing can be achieved by using the public library to take the books out manually or to download books free. We have kept a few books for sentimental reasons. However, now that I am older, I realize that collections and things that I thought I needed to have a lovely and literary home began to control me as they required storage space and maintenance. Less is more. A word to the wise, it is better to live simply.

As a former library director and an avid book nut I agree. Books (in any form) are a window to the world and free ebooks are offered at most libraries... use them and expand your mind!
