Are you making a new recipe that calls out for seasoning or spices you don't have? Instead of purchasing each new seasoning or spice jar, which can get costly especially if you may not like the recipe, my thrifty tip is to purchase in bulk where you can scoop the amount you need into a ziplock or plastic bag.
Sometimes, I only need a teaspoon or tablespoon for the new recipe. At times, the bag is so light that it cannot even be sold to me, so the cashier will give it for free or for a few cents only. For instance, these 3 bags of spices cost me .25 cents. Had I had to buy each spice individually (not knowing if I'll use the spices again) would cost anywhere from $2-6 for each spice.
This saves you from spending money on seasoning/spices you may not use again or like. But, if it works out, then you know to purchase the full-size seasoning/spice jar.
