I went into the bathroom looking for hand lotion a few minutes ago. DH and I use baby lotion and shampoo so we don't dry up and blow away. We had a bottle of baby lotion close to the bottom which I had turned upside down. I discovered DH had cut a 'door' in the side of the bottle so we could reach in for those few remaining drops. Now that ain't thrifty, that is stingy! I was surprised to see how much was left and could have been tossed had he not done that. Just a suggestion and a giggle for some.

Yes, I agree there is a lot of lotion left after the pump stops working. You have a very creative husband. My solution to this issue is that I keep a small jar handy for this leftover lotion. I turn the bottle upside down into the jar. When the bottle is empty, I use a popsicle stick to get it out of the jar and onto my body. I love this frugal tip. It may not be a lot in dollars, but it's just a good feeling to know I'm saving that much and helping the environment by not sending that lotion to the trash.
I cut away the majority of bottles and tubes and combine all leftovers together in a container for skin care. Based on the product I use, my usage habits, and the containers, I am recovering maybe 10-15% of the contents of each container.
