Cast iron will last for generations if properly cared for. A properly seasoned pan will be non-stick and will clean up very easily. After washing, I warm up the pan on my stovetop. I then use Crisco on a paper towel to rub all over the pan. When the pan is cold, I put it away.

I second that!
I too have found this is the absolute easiest and fastest and best way to season cast iron so the cooking surface is like an ice rink, it's totally non stick after doing exactly as you've said.
Some say "put the greased cast iron pan into the oven" for an hour or so, then leave it until it cools, which is another hour. Naaah, the oven method takes too long, and no need to heat the oven up either.
Your method here, is imho, the only way to go, and it's fast!
I also dry my cast iron on the stove after washing them. I set a timer for 2 minutes - because I seem to forget about it if I don't. I have left the skillet on the stove for way too long, so setting the timer reminds me to turn the stove off.
