My loving Cairnoodle, 10+yrs, with barely a tail, 20 lbs, 14" from shoulders to base of tail, shakes, scratches and gets out of doggy diapers. I have ordered DoRites with attached suspenders, but that gets really pricey since I have to use them every night. She is very embarrassed because she is very well potty trained, but watching the stricken look on her dear face when I remove the stairs so she cannot sleep with me as she has done since she was puppy is almost more than I can bear.

I believe you already know what you might need to do soon and it will be difficult as you clearly love your dear friend very much!
Unfortunately, when we chose to have a dear friend (or dear friends!) in our lives who usually have a much shorter life span then we have, we face the prospect and the responsibility of choosing to either maintain an often expensive, difficult and somewhat longer life or helping them pass on in a loving and pain free way.
You are having real difficulties now with the expense and physical difficulty of changing, washing, and buying materials for your friend's continuing problem. Your vet opines that the current medical problem may continue. Your dog is clearly unhappy, as well. Your choice is to continue with the currrent difficult situation (and one that may worsen over time) or helping your dear friend pass.
Wow! did they actually just suggest putting this lady's dog down because it cannot control bladder? This surprises me
Dogs are NOT disposable beings when they become older and need a little help, when they stood by us through everything. They are part of the family, part of our lives.
Yes shocked me as well! My doggy is 14 and just started with a little incontinence omg I'd NEVER have her put to sleep, and besides my vet wouldn't do that anyway!!!
You could try doggie pajamas over the diapers. These look like "long johns" and button like human PJs. Try a pet store that sells pet clothes to get help with sizing.
I have purchased dog pajamas on eBay. They were a quite reasonable price.
I had a dog 14 years old and incontinence happened during the day and night and asked the vet for medicine for the incontinence worked very well.
This is the only thing I can find! I hope it helps! :) Hug your furbaby for me :D pets.petsmart.com/
