I am a divorced, older mom who is frugal to a fault. My ex has never paid child support, but my kids and I have done just fine. I am now retired (because of health) and need some fundraising ideas to help my two children go on their senior trip and to pay for their cap, gown, etc. I would be so grateful for any ideas you have. My motto has always been, "every tub must sit on its own bottom", so I have never really been keen on "asking" anyone for anything, but right now, I really need ideas. I don't want to let my children down. I also want you to know that my housing is based on my household income. If my 17-year-old boys get jobs, my rent will increase and I will be worse off than I started. I am removing them from my lease when they go to college. They will no longer receive Social Security and my rent will decrease, but for now, please help with some moneymaking ideas so they can participate in their senior activities. Thanks everybody!

You don't say how old your children are, but I'm assuming they are in high school now. Why not have them get part-time jobs to help pay these expenses? I am a high school teacher, and I firmly believe that seniors should pay these expenses themselves as much as is possible. Senior year can be pricey, and students need to start learning budgeting and choosing between needs and wants.
Have you tried selling things on Ebay? Check out some of the money saving ideas on the internet and pocket this money for the trips, etc. I second the job idea. Senior adults have all kinds of needs. Ask around and I am sure they can find adults who need help and would pay.
