I have a red Molly. The babies hatched a couple of days ago. When do you know when to separate mom from the babies?

I would get a breeder's box. You don't want the baby fish to get eaten.
That's certainly interesting. I knew nothing about these particular fish, and didn't know they eat their young or there would be too many. It does appear the breeders box is needed right away.

Normally the breeder box is used just before she gives birth to her babies. When a molly will give birth you'll see a small V appearing on her stomach. This was the time to put her in the breeder box. She would of had the babies and they would have fallen through the holes and would have been safe. Now you either need to remove her from the bowl or like other said put her in a breeder box.
You must separate the baby molies from their mother. As we know that mollies are very aggressive and they eat anything that fits in their mouths. The newborn babies are very small and just look like their pellet food which is why they eating their babies after giving berth. If you look fisharoma.com/
