The best way to buy shampoo and conditioners if you have a septic tank is to read the labels and buy products that are septic safe. This goes for your toilet paper and your cleaning products for your home. All safe septic products are marked on the back of the product label.
Im not in total agreement with this statement. Bleach is harmful and will destroy the bacteria. Dont use powder soap.
If you want to check your local stores, I would recommend going to either Ace or True Value Hardware stores and ask for assistance as they usually have well trained people in most departments. I say this because you will need washing products for dishes, maybe dishwasher, clothes, cleaning products, hand soap, toilet tissue, shampoo and conditioner.
There will be some regular products that can be used but better to be safe from the start.
Home Depot and Lowe's may also have knowledgeable clerks to help you.
