Sewing Machine Continues Stitching?

I have a white sewing machine, model W1750 D'lite sewing machine that my aunt purchased and gave to me. It sews fine both straight and zigzag.

The problem is that it won't stop stitching when you hit the stop button or release the foot pedal.
