The wheel on my Kenmore will hardly move. Nor will the thread take-up lever. What is wrong? I've had no problems until now.

Did you check the instruction booklet for the troubleshooting pages?
Did you thread the needle with the presser foot down?
Had you just wound a bobbin and forgot to reset to sewing mode?
When was the last time you had the machine serviced? Might be time for a servicing if the above questions don't help you sort the problem.

I have a Nova sewing machine, an old one. When I was using it suddenly the wheel which controls the motor suddenly got stuck up. What can I do? Please help me!

The Necchi SuperNova was the premier sewing machine of its day. You have a 'frozen hand wheel' and there are several reasons for why it's frozen - could be anything from a broken belt or gear to something simple like accumulated thread and lint bits.
Best thing is to take it to a sewing machine repair tech. The following link is for the US site but you can scroll to the bottom of the page to find the 'contact us' link that you can use to ask the company who services their machines in your area. They may even be able to walk you through a few simple things to try before taking the machine to a repair tech, too - worth a try:)
Good luck, I hope you're back sewing soon. The machine you have is the machine I learned to sew on in 1962!
I have a Kenmore 385.11 sewing machine. I was filling a bobbin the other day and had the hand wheel turned in that position. Then when I was done I put the hand wheel back into the sewing position, but it locked.
The hand wheel will not move and machine will not sew. What do I do now?Normally this is caused by a jam in the bobbin area of the machine. You will need to take this apart and clean out this area. Remove the bobbin and the casing that it sits in. Check around and make sure there is nothing at all blocking the needle from moving up and down.
Most of the time this happen from debris like, Threads, fabric pieces, lint and dust. This can easily build up in and around your bobbin housing, making your machine jam up. Clean out thorough , rethread correctly (this also can hinder the movement of your machine). Start a new!
First - please - as a safety precaution - unplug your machine before trying any suggestions.
There are several things that could be causing this problem but most likely the biggest is the bobbin. It may be dirty but it never hurts to clean out the bobbin and the case - everything - around it. Did the bobbin fill correctly?
You can always plug in your machine after each 'repair' to see if anything changed.
Generally problems in the bobbin first try but then all the debris, lint, and crystallized lubricants should be removed. So, if you have not gave your machine a good cleaning lately (or ever?) now would be a good time to tackle this job.
There are quite a few videos to show you how to do this as well as several sites that offer very clear instructions. All of the instructions may not be for your specific model but most will still be along the correct lines.
I generally go to the Sears site for any problems with my Kenmore and if I cannot find what I need, I contact them and they have always been very helpful but if they service your machine it may be a big ticket charge (just so you know).

There is a discussion about this problem on this site that has some very good suggestions for all around help as well.

Google always has videos on YouTube for problems like this.
unclogging the bobbin generally resolved this issue
wheel locked cannot sew
The hand wheel of my Singer 6020 does not turn. It seems it is completely locked. I have not used my machine for more than 10 yrs.
I tried cleaning and oiling all parts. Still the problem exists. What to do?I am not familiar with a 6020. Is it a 620? That one I am a little more familiar with. Just want to clarify.
That said, you can check YouTube and find lots of good cleaning and repairing videos on most Singer machines.
Sometimes when they sit that long any plastic or rubber parts fall apart and need replaced. If you have a local repair shop, see if they will give you a free estimate.
Sadly, the only one I know in my neck of the woods closed. Hopefully your town will still support such a repair shop.
Post back with an update!
It can also be in bobbin-winding mode. Turn the inner wheel one way and the outer wheel the opposite. That should unlock it.
