I bought a hand grafted weeping pussy willow. Should I break off the branches that are growing with leaves to keep its shape?

If you want to cut the tree you'll need to use pruning shears to do this one with. It is a bad idea to break any branches at all off the tree.

Nice specimen tree - do you plan to grow it in a large pot or will you be planting it in your yard?

Just asking because where you plant it will be crucial to its future growth (soil type and shade/sun).

Pussy willows are best pruned in spring right after they bloom. Pussy willows bloom on shoots produced during the previous growing season. If you prune them too late in the season, you will remove those shoots, and they will not produce those furry catkins the following year.
