Crisco Sticks last: 6 Months

Also other tips to prolong your shortening is to store in cool dark place like the pantry, away from the stove or other appliances.

When in doubt, toss it out if you are unsure and purchase a new one.

Crisco's site lists a year for opened Crisco stored under ideal conditions. If you are talking about the canned Crisco, I wouldn't keep it more than 6 months. The canned version is hydrogenated; that means it has air whipped into it.

The air would cause the shortening to turn rancid more quickly than if there were no air added. Let your nose be your guide.

You do not say can, stick or oil but most people think of canned when Crisco name is mentioned.
I do not do a lot of frying or baking so Crisco (can or oil) stays with me for a long time. I do not buy ahead so I plan on when to buy and after opening, I date it, top it with saran wrap before cover and place it in my refrigerator. I check my refrigerator contents every month and discard whatever is past its prime.

Crisco does last several months this way but I believe 6 to 8 months is long enough to store something like this. So, if I do not plan to bake/use it then out it goes - usually someplace in my back, back yard and container discarded.
This is still the best web site for Crisco products:

If you inspect the can or package it will list a "use by" date. For further info, I would Google it.

Not sure but my mom used to keep it for at least 3 or 4 months
