Depends on how far past. I just ate a pineapple fruit cup (Dole I think) that expired in April and it was fine.

That said, I tossed some from 2013. I have no clue how they got pushed so far to the back as I am usually good not to waste food..so that was enraging.

Open it and smell it. If it smells the least bit off, toss it. If it smells OK, take a small taste and if it tastes the least bit off toss it.

You could always call the company and ask for their guidelines.

I would generally think a few months past the use by date but only if it looks okay and smells okay when opened.
Fruit cups are usually refrigerated so if this is the kind you are talking about be sure you know the cups have been properly refrigerated all the time.

Commercially packaged fruit cups should be fine to eat for months after the "Use By" date. Those dates are a guideline as to when the food will no longer be at it's best.

Just be sure to smell it and look at it first.

A few months past would be ok.
