The keyboard on my Smith Corona SD 700 typewriter is locked/disabled and the words "Keyboard Off" appear on the display - regardless of whether the keyboard switch is in the ON or OFF position. Any idea what might be wrong?

You may have a short in the circuit. I think your typewriter needs to be serviced.
You may be able to ask your question on their web site as they have a lot of information and also parts.
