This project is called "perfume basket" simply because of its fragrance. The scent doesn't come from any expensive perfume, but from a bar of soap. This will cost you less than a dollar and since it looks gorgeous and elegant it can best be used as a party giveaway, especially for weddings.
Total Time: 15-20 minutes
Yield: 1
Supplies:
- 1 piece beauty soap or any fragrant bath soap
- 5-10 m ribbon
- 1 boquet tiny artificial flowers
- 40-60 pieces round head push pins
- 2x11 in paper
Steps:
- First, observe the shape of your soap. I have chosen this soap because of it's shape. As you can see, it's oval and curved; a perfect shape to make it look just like a basket. Make the curve face upwards, it will be the top part. Notice that there is an oval shape around the soap brand. Carve a bigger oval around it using a push pin.
- Next, draw a line on the sides following the curves.
- On the bottom portion, there is also an oval shape carved around the brand name which is bigger compared to the one on top, so, no need to carve lines on it.
- Start inserting half of the push pins on the carved oval on top. Estimate the distance of the pins depending on the size of your ribbons. Mine is 1/2 centimeter so the distance is also about 1/2 centimeter.
- Do the same on the sides and also the bottom.
- Get a piece of paper and fold it lengthwise, 1 centimeter in width. This will serve as the basket handle.
- Stick one end into your soap by securing it with one of the top pins. Do the same with the other end of the handle.
- Now get your ribbon. Secure the ribbon with one of the top pins.
- Bring the ribbon down to the middle pins and start looping it around one pin, then bring it back to the top and continue looping back and forth until the whole top portion is fully covered.
- Without cutting the ribbon, make a fence starting on the first end of the handle. Tightly loop ribbons in every pin until it reaches the other end of the handle.
- Wrap the handle with ribbon until reaches back to the first end and continue to the other side. Make two layers of fence.
- Go down to the bottom and wrap with ribbon by doing the same as you did on top.
- Work with the fences when it's fully covered.
- Bring the ribbon back to the middle pins and start looping again to make the middle fence.
- Upon reaching the last middle pin bring the ribbon to the top pins and cut the excess. Secure the end of the ribbon with another pin.
- Now that you're done with the basket, fill the top with a bouquet of tiny flowers. Secure them with pins.
