If you Daughter is a minor, yes. My Dad passed away at the young age of 44. My Mother received benefits for herself and children until the last child reached 18.
Why not visit your local SS office and get answers so as to put your mind at ease? Some questions can be answered over the telephone but I, (personally), like to talk to someone face to face when asking important questions.
The age of the child at your death would determine whether benefits would be paid and also would determine if your wife would also receive benefits.
It is my understanding that benefits are not always being paid (some cases?) to the parent after a child reaches a "certain" age. It seems the SS administration is saying the parent will receive money FOR the child but not for the parent when the child is a teenager.
Be sure to check this out as this may be the way of the "future". Things are always changing so be sure to talk to someone that has the correct answers and then recheck in a year.
If your daughter is under 18, she will receive benefits, I also think your wife will get them also. If your daughter is older than 18 nor your wife or daughter will receive benefits. When your wife reaches retirement age, she can collect your SS, if your amount is higher than hers.
One more thought....if your wife (after your death) remarries she will no longer receive benefits but the minor child or children will. When my Dad died my Mother's benefits stopped when she remarried my step-father but she continued to get benefits for my brother until he turned 18.
