I have a question. I am the payee of my son's Social Security payments. I pay child support for my two other children from a previous divorce. That has nothing to do with my son receiving Social Security. I was told that child support couldn't take it, because my son's Social Security has nothing to do with my other kids or child support. Please help! That money is my son's money, not mine. I'm his payee and child support is trying to take his money for child support owed to my other kids' dad. This is being done in the state of Montana.

You'll need to find a way to get in touch with Social Services and get an appointment with a real person. This is hard to do. Keep working on it. Someone will eventually have to explain to you why this is being done.
If they keep saying they can't help you, file an appeal of this decision. That forces them to have to explain it to you.
i would contact Social Security. when i was payee for my son, they sent forms each year wanting to know how i spent the money i was paid on his behalf (hint: it was supposed to be related to his upkeep - rent, clothes, medicine, food, school expenses, gifts etc.). so i doubt very seriously they will be on board with the child support taking his Social Security funds.
