Staining Concrete Floors

I want to remove my carpet and do something, like paint or stain my concrete living room floor. I have large dogs, grand-dogs, and grand kids. Any suggestions, tips or advice?

Stain or paint looks awesome. Weigh your traffic to decide. You mention lots of dogs (who might wee wee) and children (who might spill) so you'll want to investigate whether those things happening might stain the stain. With paint you'll want to be sure to place cardboard or rug pieces (the rug not the backing side down) under the feet of furniture to move so the paint doesn't get scratched. Read Cosmics tip down below in the archives about staining.

And here's one that shows photos of painted concrete floors: www.thriftyfun.com/tf80178241.tip.html

And here's a link that has a photo slide show of fancy stained concrete floors (most of them look like they have a top coating. Personally I like the look of the ones that don't seem to have a coating on them): www.concretenetwork.com

Good luck and share photos of your finished floors with us, please. (06/11/2009)
