I just won some really old, linen napkins in an auction this morning. One of the napkins has some brown staining, probably from being folded and put up for so long. Any ideas how to clean this beautiful fabric?

Try soaking with NappySan. The one in the pink container is suitable for coloured fabrics. I soaked my grandmother's embroidered linen table cloth overnight, and it removed all the old rust stains, coming up as clean as new. Just follow the instructions on the container. (I assume NappySan is available world-wide.) (04/13/2007)

Try soaking in OxiClean or Zout, in the detergent aisle. (02/12/2009)

Soak in powdered bleach, good luck. (04/13/2009)
I make a paste with water and lemon-scented Cascade (powder kind). Dab on old stain, let sit for ten minutes or so, and then wash in the hottest water allowable. Has worked for me many times on old linens with "rust" stains. Good luck. (12/02/2009)
