I'm trying to start up a Montessori School at home 3/5 children. Do I need to register a company and is there a license requirement?
I'm assuming you are in the US and yes there are quite a few legal steps that have to be taken to open any type of private school and if you plan to use the name Montessori then there are other legal matters to consider.
Most of the rules/permits/regulations/licenses will be the same for states but some will not be so you will have to find your state's requirements.
You can find most of these for your state if you Google this wording and click on your state:
State Regulation of Private Schools
Here is a link that has all of the information about starting a Montessori school:

Good luck with your new adventure.
Opening any type of school there is a lot of red tape involved and each state has different rules and regulations for opening this school. Before you go much further the best thing for you to do is check with the board of education first. They can tell you the papers that need to be filed, what qualifications you will need in order to open a Montessori school in your area. You are not indicating what ages the children will be in your school. What do you plan on teaching, what experience do you have. These will all be questions that need to be answered. Do you have your license to teach school and if so what grades will you teach in your school. Once you talk with the board of education then you need to file your tax papers and get a tax number for the school.
Contact your local Council and find out what you have to do when starting up a school. There are now rules and regulations when involving little children.
Are you in the US? I suggested contacting your local small business development center so you can find the laws for your state.
If you are not in the US, most countries have some sort of small business assistance centers and they can get you started.
Post back what you learn! Happy to help more with more info! Blessings on your venture!
