I hope so because I've been doing it for years.
Most of them come from them so my guess is yes. Speaking of shoe boxes, if you go to the local shoe place, most of the time you can get them for free. They are great for organizing smaller things you can't fit in your new home, but also for cd's, cassettes, stationary, etc.
