If they're fresh, you can store them in a paper bag in the crisper drawer in your fridge. If you want to freeze them, break off both ends, blanche in hot water for about 2 minutes, put in plastic bags and then into the freezer.

I usually can string beans in the pressure canner but this year, with the dry weather, the string beans did not produce enough for me to can so I froze a few packages. This is the first year I have frozen string beans and I was really surprised at how well they tasted.

Besides canning you can dry string beans also. Using needle and strong thread run needle and thread through each string bean then hang in good place for drying. Leave hanging until ready to use.

This way of storing beans is good for making soups, since liquid will re-hydrate beans. But you can also just put them in pot on stove and prepare as you normally prepare string beans.
