Substitute for Curing Salt When Making Ground Beef Jerky?

I can't find curing salt in the store to make ground beef jerky, can I use canning and pickling salt instead?

Curing salt contains nitrites and nitrates to help prevent botulism. There really is no substitute. You can order cuing salt online from www.spicehouse.com
