I don't know what my kitchen would look like without sunflowers, probably a lot of blue and no yellow. So today I channeled my inner sunflower lover and made this frame for my new cat's lovely little face.
Total Time: 1.5 Hours
Yield: 1
Source: Seen on line, used my own stitches.
Supplies:
- 4-5 yd scrap brown yarn
- 10 yd scrap yellow yarn
- size I hook
- scissors
- photo of your choosing
- 2 inch scrap of plastic
- hot glue gun
Steps:
- With your brown yarn, chain 24 and join with a slip stitch.
- Make a double crochet in the back loop of each of the first 2 chains, and 2 double crochets in the next chain. Continue this till you have 32 doubles. Join with a slip stitch and work in the tail.
- Attach your yellow yarn in any stitch. Chain 4, make a single crochet in the second chain, a half double in the next chain, and a double in the last chain. Skip the next stitch, and slip stitch in the next stitch. You will be making a petal every 2 stitches. This will give you 16 petals.
- My photos show 14 petals, but it's because I was trying to conserve yarn. With plenty of yarn, you don't have to worry. So, the next row requires some chain work in the back. Easy peasy.
- When you slip stitch the last petal down, you are going to make a base chain behind the first row of petals, making it so you can make the second row. Chain 5 (you need a center stitch) and slip stitch in the space between the petals, where you secured them to the brown. Continue around till you slip stitch and meet where you began the chain.
- You are going to repeat the petals but put one on the chains center stitch (#3) and make another on the last chains to the place where you slip stitched (#5). This will give you 24 in the back. Join with a slip stitch and either leave enough tail to make a hanger, or cut and weave in. Turn the flower over and and spot glue the plastic over the hole. Then put your photo in. N-JOY!!
