I have a 5 year old daughter. Her father was killed in 2011. He had received SS benefits since the age of 6. I tried twice, to get her his benefits but they told me she couldn't receive any because her father never worked. He was never able to work, that's why he received benefits. Is my daughter entitled to his benefits? I've been trying for 3 years!

What has your local Social Security Office told you? I don't know why your daughter would qualify for her Dad's disability benefits. Now another question why did you have a child with somebody that was unable to work. Basically if a person is so bad off that they can't work, that would mean you were their caregiver. Another thing, I know a lot of people with all different types of disabilities, some of which are really severe, including some people that have both mental and physical handicaps, but they all manage to work, while they are drawing disability.
We're from Social Security for low income families. Sorry but you're not entitled to any benefits because the benefits he was receiving as a child. More than likely SSI benefits he never worked for his benefits and that was kind of like a form of welfare that was given to him as a child you can only be entitled to if you worked and contributed throughout your lifetime then your child receive survivors benefits which is totally different but since he never worked he never earned any money so your child will not receive any Social Security survivor benefits.
