A fun way to make bread! The kids will enjoy helping.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups flour
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup ground almonds
- 1/2 cup chopped raisins
- 2 eggs, beaten slightly
- 2 (1 lb.) coffee cans
Directions:
- Mix 2 cups flour and yeast.
- Stir water, milk, shortening, sugar, and salt over low heat until butter melts. Cool to lukewarm.
- Add to flour and yeast.
- Add remaining flour and ingredients. Dough will be stiff.
- Knead on flour board.
- Grease coffee cans with oil.
- Divide dough in half and place in cans.
- Cover cans with plastic lids. Let rise to almost full. Remove lids.
- Bake at 375 degrees F for 35 minutes.

2 coffee cans (1lb. size)
