After trying all of the other suggestions to get my Swiffer Wet Jet working again, i.e.: change batteries, make sure batteries are in properly with the door closed all the way, clean spray openings, clean off battery acid if batteries were corroded, etc., I watched a YouTube video. It said to take acetone based nail polish remover to the battery connectors inside the casing and let dry completely. Re-install the batteries. This worked for me! I can't believe it was just that after trying everything else! So hopefully this helps you.

Cleaning the battery contacts allowed our wet jet to work again. Not only did the contacts to the battery box need to be cleaned but also the contacts between the battery box and the wet jet unit.
Replaced batteries but no joy. Inspected for possible corrosion still no joy. Toe the unit apart and found the motor was cruded up with corrosion. Looked like the pump shaft had leaked solution and it leaked into the motor along the shaft. Closer inspection of the motor reveals the brushes are gone. Since it appears to be a throwaway I will buy another. Very frustrating for something so simple to be totally unrepairable.
Mine is brand new out of the box and it won't work
Try using a key or flathead to stretch the metal connectors on the battery housing, just did it with mine and worked like a charm
The motor in my stiffer is all rusted, that is what's the problem. The hose is way to short, liquid drips on the motor.
The problem with the swifter is the motor, there's a hose that is way to short, dripping the liquid on the motor. Never buying again
It worked! There was a little corrosion on the battery contacts. I wiped them with nail polish remover and now the thing is working again.
Hello I have a Swiffer spray cleaner but it is no where to put batteries. The solution goes directly into the housing made into the sprayer.
Just tried it (7/31/19) and it worked. I used q-tips. It still looked green when I set it in the sun to dry. Put batteries back in and IT WORKED!!! Thanks for saving me $25 :)
I tossed my ten year old Swiffer because I couldn't get it to work. Read all the comments and your fix it and fished it out of the dumpster.
I tried the acetone. It worked! Excellent solution, thanks!
So angry! My brand new Wet Jet wont work! Replaced with my batteries, checked they were in properly a thousand times and it still wont work! Checked everything! My daughter threw my receipt out too. Will never buy another Swiffer product again
Yes!! Thank you for your input! At first, I didn't think the acetone worked.... I took a break from troubleshooting, as I was beginning to get discouraged. After about 10 minutes I went back to it. Meanwhile, my husband suggested trashing it and just purchasing a new unit....
Yay, I'm so glad you were able to fix it.
That is ridiculous. Why wont it just freakin work. I am so dissatisfied right now. I tried everything but the nail polish shit. Really???
That did the trick. Thank you so much! I didnt realize I had corrosion on the battery terminal.
I changed the batteries.cleaned the sprayer out.put new bottle of cleaner in it.It just wont work.
You're right! It worked after trying everything else suggested on line. Thank you:)
I just cleaned the battery connections with a dry q-tip and it worked.
