Swiffer WetJet Solution Bottle Won't Stay Attached?

I followed all of the directions and the bottle came with the WetJet kit. I got it to click in, but it immediately pops back out. Is there any way to fix this?

You probably got a bad one. Return it, but also tell Swiffer. 1-866-411-1753

I have done everything suggested in this post, but my brand new, fresh out of the box, wet jet still will not work. Is there anything else I can do?

They only refund within 30 days. My Swiffer broke after 6 weeks so I am out of luck.

Same thing happened to me and I read where someone posted Swiffer instructions so I followed them and it worked great. The problem was I was trying to put the cleaner in with the Swiffer standing upright when you have to lay the Swiffer on a table or on your lap and put the flat side of the cleaner in while its laying down.

It snapped in perfectly.

The REAL SOLUTION to getting the Swifter to spray is two-fold. If your Swifter is new, forget all the solutions that say new batteries, clean nozzles, etc. Here is a more obvious solution that will work.

1. The cleaning solution bottle has a label that says "This side toward pole" with an arrow pointing up. The solution bottle we received has this label on the wrong side of the bottle - or, perhaps, it is intended that the label be interpreted such that you see it and the arrow as you slide the bottle into the Swifter. Regardless, if you hold the bottle (cap down) beside the Swifter housing, it is visually obvious from the shape of the bottle and the shape of the housing how the bottle needs to be oriented to fit properly into the housing. The narrow edge of the bottle goes towards the pole.

2. Now that you know how to position the bottle, depress the bottle release button (round button on back side of housing) while sliding the bottle in and keep it depressed while firmly pushing the bottle to a stop. Doing this assures the bottle retainer clip is pulled out of the way so the bottle can be pushed in far enough so the two pins can completely puncture the soft rubbery lid on the bottle. You may be surprised how much spray comes out and how far it goes. A 1/4 second press of the spray button will dispense enough liquid to do an area about 8 to 9 square feet (an area one big step long by one big step wide).

You're welcome. Woudn't it have been easy (and saved many of us a lot of time and frustration) for Proctor and Gambel to put this in their directions. And for the solution bottles to have the "This side towards pole" in the right place.

This is my second wet swifter. Hated the first one because it would clog up. So thought Id try it again.

Dummy me. It does the same thing the first on did. After first use, no more. Very unhappy with swiffer.

instructions say "do not remove cap". the spray (water) does not
come out.

There was a bracket inside that was stopping the bottle from snapping into place. It was assembled backwards. I turned it around and it seated nicely.

I through the first one away, bought another and it did the same thing. I returned it and got a replacement at Walmart. That one died too = in just a few weeks. I took the thing apart and saw the little motor inside was completely corroded.

It is a faulty design if the motor area gets wet. I will NEVER buy another one! Cheap trash.

Thank you so much! I found that I was placing the bottle in the wrong way so I flipped it where the arrow was on the side of the handle where I couldn't see it when I pushed it in. Voila! It worked but I wouldn't have gotten there without this posting. Thanks again. Swifters away!

Doesn't work

THANK YOU!! I was so frustrated & annoyed, having wasted time trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. I'd have never known about this cardboard piece since I couldn't see it & there were no instructions to look for & remove it! (A vital oversight by corporate!) I had to lay the Wet Jet on it's side & shake it hard to force the cardboard packing piece out because I still couldn't see it.

I then stood the cleaner upright, pushed the bottle in & it snapped in place, no problem. And it works!!

It is probably defective. Return it to the place you purchased it from.

It seems no matter what we purchase, there is always a chance that someone will get a "lemon".

  • You may want to recheck your steps before going any further (just in case you missed something):
  • if possible, you should return the item and get a new one - just put everything back in the package and tell them it did not work properly.
  • If, for whatever reason, you cannot return this product, you may be able to receive help from the company - but - it may/will not be from Swiffer as it appears their web site has no actual contact information.
  • You will have to go to the parent company, P&G to complain.

In my case, make sure you take out the cardboard that is keeping the bottle from being inserted all the way

Oh my god! I didn't realize that white piece was cardboard that needed to come out. Thank you! Was working on this for awhile before I figured that out.

Me neither. It would be nice if they'd tell you that!

February 29, 20201 found this helpful

There is a piece of white cardboard that is part of packaging, remove that and it should work.

Had the same problem, my issue was not removing the little cardboard price that was in area you place the claiming fluid bottle.

June 25, 20200 found this helpful

Just have to say I had the same issue. Tired every single thing imaginable. The solution? Take the cartridge and follow the instructions as to how to position it pole side. Then, take your fist and SMASH IT. It secured and now works perfect

I am a single mom and extremely busy and broke. Although I cant afford it I splurged and bought myself a wetjet to save time but it has been more of a hinder then anything else as the tank won't stay locked in. Is this fixable or is it a defect?

March 30, 20220 found this helpful

Okay, I'm feeling really dumb as I type this.... but double-check to make sure there isn't a cardboard packing insert in the way.

July 27, 20230 found this helpful

Solution bottle wont stay inserted

August 15, 20230 found this helpful

Same here

  • mine keeps popping out so i just push it back in and keep doing it until I'm done mopping.

August 13, 20230 found this helpful

The pins in the center were not aligned on mine so when I tried to force it on the pin in front finally popped through the plastic so I cut a bit of the plastic away and moved the pin towards the back a bit more

Swifter no longer responds to calls. only bots on line. Threw two of mine away after 3 weeks. both broke.
