I need a recipe for tartar sauce. Does anyone out there have a good, but simple one? I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jamish from Ransom, Kansas
Mix equal parts mayo and green hot dog relish. Cheers! (06/18/2007)

My husband loves tartar sauce! His favorite is so simple. Just mix mayo with sweet pickle relish to taste. (06/18/2007)

I use salad dressing (Miracle Whip, as I usually don't have mayo in the house). Add some finely diced pickles and a tsp of sugar. (06/18/2007)

Mayo, ketchup, and some relish (not sweet for me) and stir! Or you can chop up a pickle fine. (06/19/2007)

Mix together well and serve.
**Regular dill pickle relish can be substituted if you prefer that taste instead of sweet pickle relish. (06/19/2007)

Just mix mayo, relish, and a dollop of mustard. My family loves it. :-) (06/19/2007)

When I don't have any tartar sauce on hand I just make a simple one with some Miracle Whip and sweet pickle relish. I also add a little lemon juice if I happen to have any. It's better to make ahead so it can chill. I am the only one in the house that likes it, so I usually just make up a little for myself. (06/19/2007)
Mix all together, cover, and chill. (For spicy sauce add 1 tbsp. horseradish.) (06/19/2007)

My 30 year old recipe for Tartar Sauce:
Combine the mayonnaise, capers, gherkins, chives, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper.
Hope this helps. (06/19/2007)
I don't measure, but I combine a bit of mayonnaise, pickle relish (sweet or dill), grated onion, and a drop or two of liquid hot sauce. Mix well. Chill. (06/19/2007)

The best tartar sauce ever (it's derived from a big restaurant chain recipe):
Use miracle whip, sweet pickle relish (although dill works too), and a few teaspoons of powdered sugar. It has really good taste and texture. (06/19/2007)

Mix 1 cup mayonnaise or Miracle Whip with 3 tablespoons dill pickle relish (or sweet relish, if you prefer). Works equally well with the fat free variety. (06/19/2007)

Oh gee. I agree with the above. Good old mayo with sweet pickle relish, and add a drip or two of lemon juice! (06/19/2007)

The best one I've ever had was made by my daughter. She used mayo and dill pickle relish and just a little bit of white vinegar. (06/19/2007)

My son has worked in a lot of restaurants and he said most of them just mix mayo with pickle relish. That's what I do. About 1 teaspoon of relish to 6 tablespoons of mayo. (06/19/2007)

Mayo and sweet relish (or dill), a few drops of lemon juice, and sometimes if I have time, I boil an egg and chop it up.
But for a quick one; mayo and relish with lemon juice to taste. Just mix til you get your taste. Oh, that sounds good now with some fish sticks! (06/19/2007)
I make this for our family, and people ask for my recipe often. (06/20/2007)

Fast and simple; use 1,000 island dressing. That's it! It has all the ingredients and more! I always keep a bottle on hand for this purpose and sometimes add a little horseradish for a bite. Oh, and I purchase it at the dollar store. (06/20/2007)
Just use a dollop of mayonnaise and sweet pickle relish to taste. My whole family loves it. (06/23/2007)
