Teaching Your Dog to Fetch?

I am about to add a new dimension to Bruno's playtime. I am going to use the two-toy bait and switch, using two identical toys, to attempt to teach him to fetch. He is not really a puppy anymore, I am not sure how it will go, if he will be interested in it or not. Have any of you done this?

It involves throwing a toy, and then when the dog goes and takes the soft toy in his mouth, you show him another exact same toy in your hand and clap to him and he will more than likely come running to you and drop the toy and you will then give him the other toy. You have to let them play with the toy for a while or it is actually negative reinforcement, because bringing back the toy will cause them to lose it. I am hoping Bruno will do this and love it and maybe get some joy out of having another "job" which he loves.

Have any of you had any luck with this or any other method?

It is all for fun and games for Bruno getting him to have more things to think about than sitting around waiting for scary thunderstorms. :)
