I have 11 volumes of The Book of Knowledge from the 1930s. They are in terrible shape but the photos, especially childrens items are useable.
I would like to sell a 10 volume set, the 40th Anniversary set, copyright 1950 by the Grolier Society INC. There is an introductory message from Admiral Byrd to the Young People of America, as well as comments from several dozen celebrities of the day. Inside the front and back covers is a beautiful full color scene with a boy and girl standing on a Book of Knowledge that is floating on the sea. The beautiful illustrations are varied with drawings, black and white and color photos. The covers are a deep red with gold lettering. If you're still interested, I have a complete set ( 20 volumes) of The Book of Knowledge printed in 1931. You're right about the illustrations. I loved these books as a child.
