Photo Description
Many times I have wished I had taken a picture of a building or an old house that is no longer there, especially old homes where I grew up. I look at this old house, that is still standing today, and wonder about the families that once lived there. I can just imagine them sitting around the fireplace or cooking on the old wood stove and enjoying a simple life, no TV, computer, phone, or the other luxuries we have today that make life so busy.

The people who owned this house may have lived through some very hard times. We'll never know. But for some reason, every time I see an old dilapidated place such as this, my whole mood changes. I become a little quieter inside. I think of close knit families, a simpler life and a deep sense of satisfaction and contentment....unlike today when we are always seeking more, be it the latest style Nike shoes, the latest smart phone with the latest functions or the latest fast food joint, serving the latest fad food.

Thanks for the beautiful picture.

Nice pictures.
I believe pictures of old houses bring different thoughts to people's minds and some differences will be due to the age of the observers and maybe what they have personally seen and/or what they have heard or described by elders over the years.

It seems a front porch was as important as any room in the house as this was a typical gathering place in the evening before bedtime.
A back porch? My recollection of the reason for a back porch was a hand pump for fresh water, a path to the out house, a path to the garden, a path to move the milk cow, and also the place to throw out used dish water.

I feel sure not too many can relate to this in the same way but most of us can conjure up what a family living in that house might have endured just to keep a family together during good conditions and especially during hard times.
Maybe we can be pleased that we have it so good.

Thanks for the pictures and pleasant memories.
