How and when did you get your pet?
Thor was found underweight, covered in mud, and wandering lost through a neighboring county. He was brought to the Charlottesville, Virginia SPCA, where my family adopted him January 1, 2015.
What does your pet like to do for fun?
Thor's favorite things include sniffing every blade of grass in the backyard, lying underneath his dad's feet, creeping dramatically around the house, and chilling with his cat friends. He loves to bounce for sticks and play tug-of-war, and to hide his chew toys in strange places like underneath the couch. He also likes to greet everyone with a friendly poke on the bottom with his nose.
Do you have anything else to share about your pet?
Our best guess is that Thor was previously abused. He was terrified when he first came home, cringing away from hands raised to pet him, and shaking like a leaf or running away when he saw an open car door. It's been a true joy to watch this sweet, gentle dog blossom under the boundless love he now receives. Instead of cringing away from new people, he now pokes, then gives his paw and sits quietly, as if he's holding hands. Instead of a skinny, shaking pup cringing around our heels, we have a beautiful, healthy golden dog giving kisses and love to everyone - our Dog of Thunder.
