Tiny Non-biting Black Bugs?

We have tiny black bugs that look like no-see-ums. They're extremely difficult to kill. Even after trapping them with Scotch tape, they hop away. They don't sting or bite, but they do seem to burrow into the skin. Once burrowed, we've worked them out with a needle. They still are able to hop away. While being dug out, they seem to change into a shape more like a tiny worm. So sorry we haven't been able to get a photo.

It will be hard to identify without a picture. I suggest you trap some of the worms and insects in a sealed plastic bag. Take it to a place that sells pesticides. They will help you identify it and buy the correct pesticide.

If you are getting bites (lumps under your skin) it should be chiggers. I suggest show the bites to your doctor because when I had these on the tops of my feet, they caused a terrible reaction and I had infections that needed medical treatment. I was quite ill from them (although my reaction was unusual, most people just get bumps, itching, and pain, which goes away after a week or so.

The first thing is your health and have this checked with your PCP ; although if the skin is warm, red, or swollen, I suggest Urgent Care IMMEDIATELY if your PCP can't see you the same day.

Second, one you have the doc confirm what you have, talk to him/her to help figure out where you are getting them and then how to get rid of them.

I got mine from being outside in a grassy area while wearing sandals. It was not my yard, so I did not have them again after my long haul to get rid of them.

If they are in YOUR yard, you will want to go to a hardware store and ask them which spray works best for chiggers. Also be sure to keep the grass very short. KEEP PETS AND CHILDREN OUT OF THE GRASS AFTER YOU SPRAY and until the situation is resolved.

If the doc confirms chiggers and you are getting the burrowing indoors, then you may need to contact a reputable exterminator.

Sending healing prayers for you!! Post back what the doctor says!
