Relieving Denture Pain

Having had dentures for over 40 years I've learned a few tricks. Such as using an emery board to file down a little nub. Be careful not to over do it. My dentist recently gave me a "slap on the head, why didn't I think of that".

For the first time I had to have a full bottom denture. My dentist said it would take awhile to get used to them. If they start to hurt place them in a Tupperware bowl and put in the freezer. He's amazing! I had no problems and am eating anything.

Hello I'm 37 when I was 22 I was in a car accident and broke ALOT of teeth... So from then till this yr I've been in lots of pain infection etc.. after waiting 6 months after full extractions last month I got a full upper and bottom set (dentures) the top going over my gum bone hurts but in a way it keeps them up even though it hurts so so bad to put them in and out one side really hurts, I'm afraid if the dentist files them down they will be too loose.. how do I get use to eating with them and because of the difficulty getting them on and off I'm afraid to use the paste but I feel I should I'm not sure because the back plate falls and the top moves but never falls out because the dentures have that bone it goes over keeps it up. I wonder should I have it filed down?

I get sores there and I can not get use to the way the roof of my mouth feels eating a them one spot on the bottom hurts and I can push them out with my tounge. I'm about to visit family for two weeks and I know I'm not going to be able to take them out at all. How do I train myself to deal.. I right now only pot them in when i see people and take them out right away.. If I want to enjoy a meal I take them out it's weird to eat through plastic...please any help is help sorry this is long.. I really need to know how other women do this and you would never know the teeth are fake.. also my teeth were super small and these are so big I can't rub my lips together like if I were to put lipstick on. My son was scared of how I looked.. thanks for reading.

Hi, I'm 62 last year in February I got my dentures. I have full dentures on the top and a parcel on the bottom. My dentures were also a problem at first. They were too big it seemed they were loose on the top. I got sores on the bottom. I went back to the dentist and she relined them. It takes about a full year for your gums to shrink down. I also ordered on line a great product called Secure it works like super glue for your dentures. I was able to eat with them. Then I put them in one day and they were holding without the adhesive.

I believe it was because it took a year for total healing of my gums. It is very hard to adjust to having plastic in your mouth as it is. Those other issues just make it so much worst. I would go back to your dentist first of all and tell them every thing that is wrong with them. They might have to reline them. Also if your going to use any kind of glue use "secure" and follow the directions it only takes a little to do a lot.

Yes, you should go back to the dentist and have him file them for you! My husband was told he has to wear them for the 3 days before his appointment. Then you and he will know exactly where they need to be sanded down. I know it's too late to go before your trip. Please don't suffer any longer and GO!

I got my first set of partial dentures (bottom set) last Monday (10/4/17) and the right side (2 teeth) is ok a little bit sore, but the left hand side is so sore and painful. Going to get some gel to help ease it but have to take the teeth out after a few hours to get some relief.

Hoping it will ease off in a day or two because its hard to eat anything that I need to really chew :(

Why put them in the freezer, to help with pain when you put them back in?

My pain is the denture moves along my lower lip (inside) and causes friction because the front of the denture is rough, needs buffing to make it smooth how can I do this? my dentist is not ineterested.

Did putting them in a freezer make it less painful when eating ? I cannot eat hardly anything , I am so depressed that I have to wear these disgusting things , I sound terrible when I talk and bottom teeth hit the bone and if anymore is cut away I don't see how there going to stay in my mouth .
